Our story began in 1957 when our founder, Ken Scowcroft, started the brokerage business from the front room of his home in Swinton, Greater Manchester. Ken sold car insurance policies to local people by going door-to-door, but he soon had a much better idea. Ken realised that by comparing prices from lots of other insurance companies he could help his customers get an even better deal. In his first year, Ken sold over 100 policies and the Swinton brand was born.

Just a few short years later the first Swinton high-street branch was open, and by 1987, Swinton was a household name with 220 branches nationwide. Today, we offer a wide range of insurance products, including car, home and motorbike insurance. While our business continues to grow, the honest and personal touch inherited from our founder remains at the heart of everything we do. Our exceptional customer service has been recognised by the UK National Contact Centre awards and we continue to receive a wealth of positive feedback from our customers.
