Do you find yourself wondering what to do with all the spare time you now have? Or have you, like some of us, dived deep into your book collection?

A new survey by Nielsen Book has found that the time we spent with our heads in our books doubled since March 2020, with 41% of people saying they were reading more since the first lockdown began. Not only are we reading more, the time spent reading has also increased from around 3.5 hours per week to six hours per week.

If you’re stuck for inspiration then we’ve picked some of our all time favourites for you to try, think of us like your own personal book club (without the wine). Let us know in the comments what your favourite books are so we can give them a go.

P.S Don’t forget you can earn cashback from a range of bookshops and you can even withdraw your payable cashback as Waterstones vouchers and earn a bonus on top with Reward Wallet.

Pride and Prejudice
It is a truth universally acknowledged that this timeless love story is an enduring classic, beautifully written by Jane Austen. Our PR Manager, Abigail’s favourite book, is of course, Pride and Prejudice. Sometimes the old ones are the best.

How to Build a Car: The Autobiography of the World's Greatest Formula 1 Designer
Steve our Proposition Manager is a car fanatic, if you are too then this is the book for you. How to Build a Car explores the story of Adrian's unrivalled 35-year career in Formula One through the prism of the cars he has designed, the drivers he has worked alongside and the races in which he’s been involved.

Talking with Psychopaths
This one is not for everyone, but if you’re fascinated by true crime and like to understand what makes certain people tick like Bec our Campaign Manager then this one is for you. Having spent years interviewing criminals and notorious serial killers, criminologist Christopher Berry-Dee takes readers deep inside the dark minds of some of the most dangerous people alive.

The Name of the Wind
This heroic fantasy by Patrick Rothfuss is the favourite of Zoe, our Marketing Executive. If you enjoy drama and fantasy then this is for you. The Name of the Wind is a masterpiece that transports readers into the body and mind of a wizard.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
We’re sure many of you already know Matt, from our social media. He’s a big Harry Potter fan, so of course his favourite book is Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. He finds the immersive descriptions of the magical world very easy to get lost in and often dreams of walking the hallowed halls of Hogwarts.

My Sisters Keeper
If you enjoy a good tear jerker then check out our Communication Manager Emily’s favourite book. If you’re after a moving moral dilemma, that has a shock twist at the end, then ‘My Sisters Keeper’ by Jodi Picoult is for you.

The Power of the Dog & A Suitable Boy
Our Insight Director Steve couldn’t pick just one favourite book, so he picked two, a very Steve thing to do. If you like epic tales with loads of interesting characters, historical context and page turning action then Steve recommends ‘The Power of the Dog’ by Don Winslow and ‘A Suitable Boy’ by Vikram Seth.
