Children First West Berkshire

The charity is established for the benefit of children in care of foster families and for young adults who have been in the care of West Berkshire. Our 1st project has been the setting up of a house for 4 young people -3 care leavers and a role model tenant. We furnish and maintain the property and offer ongoing support to the residents. We aim to provide them with independence skills – cooking, budgeting and more - with emotional and psychological support to enable them to achieve their potential. We support volunteers in their contact with the young people. Our 2nd project is just beginning – enabling foster families unable to afford a holiday to get away. Social Services fund a foster child but not the foster carers or their own children and the emotional and physical demands of being a carer makes a holiday important.
