Aegis Trust

Launched in 2000,Aegis Trust developed from the work of the UK Holocaust Centre and was conceptualized in the wake of its founders' response to the 1999 Kosovo crisis. Aegis Trust is an international organisation working to prevent genocide. We create spaces in which honour and dignity are restored to the memory of the victims of genocide, where students, professionals, decision-makers and a wider public can meet survivors and learn from their experiences. Through education we work to build long-term peace and counter the prejudice and beliefs that lead to genocide, while finding ways to support survivors to rebuild their lives. We conduct research on places where genocide is a current threat, work to end impunity by holding perpetrators to account, provide evidence-based policy advice to decision-makers who can respond, and undertake advocacy to take the voices of those at risk to politicians, the media and the public. www.aegistrust.org
